How to cut delivery-app commission without leaving the apps
Keep the delivery apps for new customers, and move your regulars to your own ordering site. Aggregator commission in the UAE typically runs 15–35% with promotions; on your own site you pay a small payment fee instead. Moving even a third of app orders to direct ordering changes the month's margin.
At a glance
- Typical aggregator commission
- 15–35% per order, more with promotions
- Your own site
- 0% commission; a payment fee of 0.4–1.0% depending on plan
- Example
- AED 120,000 a month on apps at 25%, 30% moved direct: about AED 8,600 a month kept after the payment fee, before the plan fee
1. Keep the apps, change who uses them
Apps are good at finding new customers. Regulars who already know you are the ones to move: they order often and they're the most expensive to keep paying commission on.
2. Give regulars a reason
- A rewards card that only works on your own site and at the table
- A WhatsApp offer to guests who opted in, after their second visit
- A printed card in delivery bags with your ordering link
3. Make direct ordering easy
Your own site should be as quick as the app: saved details, Apple Pay, pickup and delivery with your own riders and zones, and scheduled orders such as iftar.
4. Measure it
Track the share of orders that come direct each week. Onetap's savings calculator on the pricing page shows what a given share saves.
Questions
Will the apps penalise us?
Check your agreement for price-parity clauses before offering lower prices direct; rewards and service are usually safer levers than price.
Do we need our own riders?
No. You can offer pickup only, or use your own riders with delivery zones and fees.
